In the past three years PillTime has grown substantially and currently serves 11,000 patients with a turnover of 3 million GBP. Over the next 2-3 years, PillTime plans further investments and sees a large growth opportunity. They envisage seeing their 80 person-strong team grow to around 150 within the next year to support their growing customer base. The work behind the service is now automated with a new BD Rowa Dose™ automated pouch packaging solution which handles the process of producing individual patient pouches with individual labelling containing name, date and intake time. With this new solution PillTime can be more efficient and is able to scale the business easily.
Support the growth of PillTime's business
Paul Mayberry, PillTime CEO stated: “We’re really excited to be working with a world-class partner like BD Rowa™, using their highly scalable BD Rowa™ Dose platform to support the growth of our business. We have big ambitions for PillTime to be a key player in the Digital Pharmacy market in the UK over the next 2-3 years. This market is becoming mainstream, rather like retail online shopping has, and will continue to experience double digit growth for the foreseeable future, so it is an exciting time and we are at the forefront.”
Safe and efficient medication management:
Currently medication errors cost the NHS an estimated 2.5 billion GBP* a year. PillTime offers its service for free to patients, ensuring adherence in medication management which will save the NHS money. The investment in the BD Rowa™ Dose solution is the next step in reducing the costs per patient for adherence packaging.
Antonios Vonofakos, GM and VP of BD Rowa™ stated: “BD Rowa has invested heavily in developing the BD Rowa™ Dose packaging solution over the last few years. It allows our customer PillTime to offer patient-specific packaging solutions to its customers and improve both – medication adherence and convenience. We are excited to bring this innovation for people to the market and strongly believe in the future potential of patient-specific packaging.”
The BD Rowa™ Dose was installed together with a BD Rowa™ Smart, a dispensing robot for the automated storage and dispensing of original pack medication, at PillTime’s Avonmouth facility during October 2019.
