Awareness and acceptance of our social responsibility have always played an enormous role here at BD Rowa (Becton Dickinson Rowa Germany GmbH) in Kelberg, Germany. The management and members of staff regularly support both regional and national initiatives with a wide range of fundraising events and activities.
Joining forces against youth unemployment
This year, our Christmas donation will go to the JOBLINGE initiative. Despite the healthy state of the economy, a lack of skilled workers and vacant apprenticeships, underqualified young people have poor chances of success on the job market. JOBLINGE helps disadvantaged youngsters find their way to a new career. In a six-month program, young people learn important social and professional skills and are given guidance regarding their personal strengths and suitable jobs before they then have a chance to gather practical experience for themselves within companies. Each participant has a “personal”, voluntary, and trained mentor on hand for advice and assistance every step of the way.
With this year’s donation, BD Rowa will be funding a JOBLINGE scholarship. This isn’t the first time the company has supported the initiative either: There is already a JOBLING working in our Frankfurt office. Alexander Szabo has been completing his apprenticeship to become a Management Assistant in Informatics (Informatikkaufmann) since 2017. “JOBLINGE helped me to identify my strengths and weakness as well as to get used to a structured workday,” he explained. “After a couple of teething problems, I have now found my place in the IT industry and am looking forward to mastering exciting challenges with my friendly and helpful colleagues.”
