Partnership with Diebold Nixdorf
29/08/2019 – BD Rowa, the specialist for storage automation and digital systems for pharmacies, and Diebold Nixon, the leading provider in the field of till systems and self-checkout solutions, have signed a partnership agreement for the sales and marketing of self-checkout solutions in the pharmacy market. The aim of the collaboration is to provide pharmacy partnerships, franchise pharmacies and pharmacy chains with a range of solutions for everything from medication storage through to payment, with the aim of offering their customers a shopping experience similar to the one they are familiar with from the retail sector.
“We are currently experiencing a growing trend where pharmacies are offering an increasingly broad range of OTS products like cosmetics, food supplements, teas etc.”, explains Dirk Bockelmann, Commercial Director BD Rowa. “Customers want the same positive and tailored shopping experience they know from the retail sector, including features like concept stores and speciality shops. This experience also includes the option of paying via self-checkout. For us, the partnership with Diebold Nixdorf is the next step in BD Rowa’s corporate strategy towards catering for these new organisational structures and technological requirements.”
An individual self-checkout solution is designed for each pharmacy and tailored to its requirements, processes and customer behaviour. The first step involves analysing customer traffic flows, consultation counters, the behind-the-counter area and all processes used in the pharmacy. Based on this analysis, the optimal location in the pharmacy for a self-checkout solution is determined, so as to integrate seamlessly with the customer traffic flow and pharmacy processes. “The modular nature of our SCO products and solutions fits perfectly with Rowa's customer-focused strategy” confirms Ulrich Völlmecke, Principal of Diebold Nixdorf.
The partnership agreement signed today will initially focus on pharmacy partnerships, franchise pharmacies and pharmacy chains in various markets. To begin with, the focus will be on markets that already have a broad OTS range, including Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Australia and Belgium, for example. In the long-term, it is intended for the cooperation to be extended to all international markets and pharmacies.
